As a point on the original question, there is one simple method of calculating current net worth - it's the "How long can I live" scale.

If you lost all your non-investment income today, how long could you live for before your lifestyle would be impacted.

It's a great way to make people think about what assets they really have, and what isn't an asset.

For example, your diamond rings handed down through your family might be valued at £10,000, but it's asset value is zero because you don't want to sell it as it's an heirloom.

Soon sorts the men from the boys when they shout up ridiculous net worths :)
    Mmmm, credit crunch. Tasty.

One of my portfolio is investment for my daughter aged 11 and will not need to touch it till 25 at least.

As this portfolio has a long time to go, can it be invested in more in the riskier emerging asia and latin america stocks. Looking for a guide on what % of portfolio?

Even in this portfolio should I still have UK, Europe and America?

Currently morning star xray show the portfolio as :-

Greater Europe - 28% (Big chunk is Emerging Europe 12%)
Americas - 33% (Big chunk is Central & Latin America 20%)
Greater Asia - 38% (Big chunk is Emerging Asia - Ex 4 Tigers 25%
