Finding MSN addresses?

Hello

I was just wondering if I could enquire about something, although I am not sure its possible.

My son uses MSN to chat to his friends at school and I do try to keep an eye on him whilst he is on there, but I was just wondering, as I know if is possible to create extra accounts. If there is anyway of checking if he has any alternate email addresses that he may be using.

Normally I do not invade his privacy but as its the internet and you dont always know who is on the other side I like to be extra vigilant. And I just want to make sure that he is complying with our rules of MSN without questioning him.

is their anyway of doing this by any chance.

Kind regards.

Hope xx

I would guess no, as it's web based. You could see if he's saved any conversations on the computer though. I assume he's quite young? Otherwise perhaps you should trust him? Having said that my daughter said today she'd found a friend by doing a google search for her name. I did one for my daughter's name and it brought up her website, which she told me not to look at! :rotfl:

no way of checking if he has alternate e-mail addresses on the internet and it may also be on a diffrent name. if i was you, i'l trust him... he wont be too happy if he finds out you'r trying to keep a leache on him.
you can check on your PC by looking for logs (usualy in the MyDocuments folder) or click on the MSNMessenger or Yahoo Instant Messenger icon in start>programs... click the arrow on the right of where it has his e-mail address and it'l probabily show what e-mail addresses have been used to sign in to the messenger program... may be his e-mail address or someone else who's logged in using his PC (his friends).

if you want to be realy evil, you can install a KeyLogger onto the PC... its a program which logs each key someone types on the computer... you can see what sites he's been going onto, what he's chatting to his friends about, what his e-mail address and passwords are etc... your Antivirus may block this thou.
unless you strongly suspect him of doing illegal activity or something of serious cause of concern,
i wouldnt recomend this option... its a invasion of his privicy and i'm sure he deserves to be trusted.

Just go into MSN Options, Messages Tab, and tick, Automatically keep a history of my conversations and change the destination directory to one of your folders.

Then its a deceotion game, leave MSN on then give [STRIKE]laxatives in his tea or something[/STRIKE] I mean say someone is at the door really quick or some kind of thing.

    Nice Sig ;)
  • MSN is totally unsecure, so yes of course you can track everything he does and read all his conversations!!

    Should you wish to ;)!

    Google is your friend here.

Type in "MSN" and then try key words such as "Spy" "Sniff" etc.
You can get spy progs that sit on his PC and record his chats, if it is networked you can do it remotly. I have used such software to intercept all MSN messaging on my compnay network, most amusing to find out who is secretly bunking up with who and slagging you off behind ya back. Having said that I uninstalled it as I was concerned I might discover something I shouldnt, and would prob get fired, although technically MSN is banned here, so... Yes, it gave full details of all sign on names (email addies) used.

imo the best plan is to have an open relationship with your kid, and keep the PC in a public place, eg kitched/dining room etc. If my parents had spyed on me they would have got a shock, im not sure they would have wanted to have known my deviant (but ultimately harmless) tastes and preferences if you know what I mean... do you really want to know your son meets people on gaydar and wears your pantyhose...?
