Hi everyone, im new around here!
I've searched various threads on this. Next door neighbours had an attempted break in the other day, the !!!!!!s smashed the handle & plate off to get to the barrel & managed to get the barrel out. Luckily they went for the wrong door on a double patio door set & were disturbed before presumably trying the other one. We live in new build houses & have the same make locks (euro cylinder locks on upvc doors) & im worried about security of our property. Can anyone offer any advice?

There is not much that you can do if the intruders are prepared to serious damage to gain entry. Except to fit auxiliary locking devices to the doors. These low lifes do not have unlimited time so anything that delays them is a bonus. A security centre will be able to advise as to what can be done in addition to your normal locks.I can afford anything that I want.
Just so long as I don't want much.0 -
yep, we've put locks on the gates now to deter them getting into the gardens, I did visit the locksmith at lunchtime, there are some turn bolts for upvc doors which are fixed to door & you turn them to catch on the frame thus preventing opening. Think I will get some of them at £7 each as opposed to buying the new anti snap locks at £35-£75 each depending on size!0

It was the turn bolts that I was thinking about, I just could not remember the name.I can afford anything that I want.

If lock snapping is a problem in your area I would suggest fittind some good quality anti-snap locks or you will be relying on your secondry security.
unless your tv is worth less than £35-£75! screw fix haved the cisa astral s and they have great anti snap protection.0 -

I agree. Hoppe do some nice security handles which can help too. They are machined from solid aluminium on the faceplate and have thicker M8 bolts making them much harder to break off, along with an additional hardened steel cylinder protection shroud too.0 -

Thanks, I dont think its a big problem there has just been a bit of a 'spate' recently. Its quite a nice area but its getting close to christmas so its to be expected unfortunately! I understand what you are saying about the tv but thats 35-75 per lock, so times it by 3! I may change them eventually if I come into some money!!0 -

How is a rock door going to solve the problem? And or are they under £35 each?0
