HMRC - how long does it take them ?

Thank you so much, this has really helped. I don't have copies of my previous tax returns, my accountant just sent me a few pages of what I earned etc. I'm clueless to be honest and the worst thing is if I try to get statements from the bank I was with last year they want to charge me more than £60 which I can't afford... Apart from that I have/know nothing..
As the OR has asked me to 'see what HMRC want me to do' if they say they can't 'make me do it' will that bring me any further repercussions??? I would obviously get it in writing from them...
sorry it took so long to reply, I didn't subscribe to the thread!
The name came from the fact that I'm a nanny and very neat and precise... lol

MP - no probs.
Sorry to hear that you're having such a horrible time, the tax returns in normal circumstances are bad enough, but in these circumstances are no fun at all.
I would try logging in to the online service, you have to wait for them to send out a code after you register. And then to can start to fill in what you can. You can ring HMRC to get them to advise on any section.
See if you can fill out the minimum required that it will accept, you could even print it off and send to the OR to show them where you are having problems completing.
You can only complete it to the best of your ability, as long as the figures are based on actual figures and not guesses. Also could you speak to the OR about the bank statements, they would have been able to get a copy and no idea whether they could help, but maybe they could let you have a copy.
If you do that the OR may turn around and say that you just dont have the info to do the return. Worth a try anyway
