Help?!- Currys Online - Avoid them if you can!

Hi All
I ordered the cheapest oven and electric hob at currys online about two weeks ago. The site stated this was in stock. I then recived an email that day and was told it was actually out of stock. I accepted this and called them up, they said that they would have some more in stock last weekend.
I waited to the weekend and after checking a few times online it did finally say "in stock" so i ordered first thing on Monday morning. I have recieved an email (4 days later) today to say it is out of stock?!?? I called up today- not being very happy to find that most of the departments close at 6pm and they couldnt really help me. Problem was I needed a cooker and hob by wednesday next week (new kitchen fitted), and with the 7 day delivery date it was leaving it very late. The lady on the phone was very unhelpful stating that there was no manager to speak to??!
In the end i put the phone down, but desperate to get a cooker and hob by wednesday next week (if i ordered tomorow it would have been sent on thursday) I was forced to go back online to currys and order another package which is slighty more money and not as good (no electronic timer)
Obviously the service i recieved was unacceptable but despite the complaing to sales they refused to apologise or make a goodwill gesture, or even explain why this has happend!
What should I do now?! bearing in mind that i have kind of solved the problem myself but im still not happy

I wouldn't have personally given them your business, I am sure there are other firms online who could have delivered in time if you had spoken to them.
Someone like QED or similar...

Seems odd that you received bad service then made another order , i would have gone elsewhere or if it had to be Currys gone instore as items are delivered alot quicker than online via the stores.0

Give head office a ring. They might kit you out with compensation0

Sounds silly I know, but the cooker and ceramic hob is only £350 from currys, everywhere else is £450+ so thats why i had to bite the bullet.0

Price match with someone else if possible.
I would not have wanted to give them my business unless it was going to cost me a lot less.
I would certainly send confirmation of both your orders to the HQ and demand they investigate and compensate you accordingly.

If a company is offering very low prices there is generally a reason for it
Many times online it can be as they have very low overheads but Currys being a large multinational company with physical and online presense clearly doesnt fit into this catagory.
Personally would never touch the Dixon Group or Comet unless I needed something that day and I could go into the store and buyAll posts made are simply my own opinions and are neither professional advice nor the opinions of my employers
