What does your friend have to say about this. Morally if they shared the flat with you all the time they should pay half, unfortunately if your the only name on the bill it's you they will pursue

Im sorry does every one here work for n-power? what's going on, i thought this was a forum to help people. I guess i was wrong, thanks you all the "help"

This is the MoneySaving forums not the BillAvoiding forums.

It looks like you're liable for some/all the bill. Talk to the energy company and you can probably get that figure reduced if you can prove that you were not in residence for part of the period to which the bill relates.

Morally your flat mate should pay half - however getting them to pay now, after the fact, may be nigh impossible.

Go to the CAB and get some proper advice. Online forums like this are great for getting peoples opinions...

If the meter was broken then there is no proof that you actually used that amount of electricity.

What is you were only there at weekends would they still want to charge you £1444. Might be worth while telling them how little time you spent there.
