Hiya
Approved foods order arrived today - thanks for the ideas Weezl
Some things were out of stock like the chicken mix and some energy drinks so they have sent extra cereal, nuts, crisps, horlicks to make it up. All in all it looks good.
A word of warning the Brooke Bond 'Bon' coffee is a bit rough - tastes like cheap coffee which it is at 99p a jar of course! Shame as we like 'real' tasting coffee (usually buy kenco or dowe edgberts or stores own premium) and I got 4 jars... might take some into work... lol!
Hubby says the dry roast nuts have a funny aftertaste but I think they are ok.
We had nut roast for tea and it was scrummy with potatoes and greens. I am having leftovers for lunch.
Tomorrow tea will be mediterranean cous cous with roast butternut squash and salad.
I have packed a bag for work with cup a soup, croutons, cous cous pots, diet coke, salad dressing and horlicks. I am planning to have soup/cous cous with salad on the 3 days I am at work, unless I have leftovers from the night before. It should save me a fortune!
Like the sound of the saag aloo / paneer btw.

hi weezl,
I followed some of your 50p thread and remembering thinking you were both brave and bonkers, I come across you on the preggy / parents threads and saw you are now doing this! Having just seen my January net pay which is only SMP and read the first half of this thread, I am inspired - we have a few bits of credit cards left between us and also a LOT of work to do on our house (it was a probate sale and we moved in 10 weeks ago but work doesn't start til week on Monday) so that's going to demolish pretty much all our savings but will follow for hints and ideas to help household bills along the way! Starting with buying an energy usage meter I think...will catch up on rest of thread baby permitting later!
thank you!
always

Hi Weezl, I've followed your threads with great interest, though never posted on them before. Just thought you might like to know there was a little bit about Approved Foods in the paper at the weekend - basically confirming that they're ok! But it also mentioned another, similar company, www.foodbargains.co.uk, which might be worth a look?0

Hi Weezl - thought I would come over here and chat - tell us about Costco - I thought it was a membership club thing, or for businesses
Also I thought I was doing well for eggs at Lidl 10p each , but Sainsbury had 6 large eggs for 40p (caged hens not free range) which is only marginally higher than costco eggs at 6p
I wonder what bought that on - they had a huge pile of themI think I saw you in an ice cream parlour

that's a great price from sainsburies :T:T:T. You don't have to be a business to have a costco card, lots of different types of job are recognised too. Or if you have a pal who has any kind of small business, they can get you a card for approx £10 per year. I know it's an outlay at first, but we make back our membership in just 10 weeks of milk buying:D.
6pints milk is £1.45 compared to £2.30 in asda...:money:
I really am enjoying your challenge, and liking the way you have got the cooperation and respect of the family. I feel it is easier for me because Fergus my son has very little to say about his diet at the moment, being 10 and a half months old :rotfl:

hiya shaz
All the meat is superb quality, much more like a real butchers than a supermarket. Doesn't seem to have been plumped up using water.
Not usually the cheapest, but it can be when the voucher book has meat on discount. We got chickens for £1.33 at one point :money:.
And yes they do do free range

a beautiful bump if ever there was one...although I always thought the ferg bump was perfectly formed!! Not at all like the jelly bump, that is my tummy, that your son so happily bounced on earlier...
ps forgot to say...hard to equate teeny ferg in avatar with now ferg lol!!Nerd no 109 Long haulers supporters DFW #1! Even in the darkest moments, love and hope are always possible.0
