Fancy dress for kids space party ideas?!?!

I have two children to take to a space party, a girl of 18mths and a boy of 3.5 yrs. I was thinking I could get some cheapish starry organza and lining fabric and make her a starry dress (go as the milky way) but I'm stumped for him. It's in a couple of weeks, so I don't want him to overheat, but he keeps saying he wants to be a robot or a spaceman. I don't have a vast amount of money spare to spend on an outfit for him - any ideas of things to make for it GRATEFULLY received (and thanked too!):beer:

e.g cheap white top and trousers, with white gloves and little boots- can you get a helmet (like a motorbike one) and spray it white with spray paint (or whatever). he's only 3.5 (bless him). put transfers on outfit and let him help.

these costumes do look a bit hot though...hmm..How about going as an alien,then you have the freedom to make it up!Green face paint,a third eye,maybe even a head band with extra eyes on springs,you could even sew a few exxtra arms onto an t-shirt/jumper.Silver spray paint is great,you could stencil a simple pattern on to a home made costume for a really good easy instant effect.I love fancy dress,though not all kids do,one of mine is really up for it-he spent yesterday in an old '80's snake skin patterned one shouldered thing,being a cave man.My other son is far too sensible,and has never once let me get any where near him with face paint!

Search under "dressing up" on ebay. I have bought costumes there and used them for the party or charity day then re-sold them back on e bay. Sometimes at more than I paid sometimes for a bit less but net result - very low cost (if any!) and no sewing involved!
