Forces pension / Earmarking help please.

hello.

i'm posting this query on behalf of a friend, and have had a good search on the internet generally first. i have also read the forces divorce pension guide, but still have a query.

if a forces pension percentage has been earmarked for an ex-spouse and is now due to be started/paid are there any 'rules' re. the age of the ex-spouse? ie. does the ex-spouse receive this money as per agreement OR only if they are over a certain age?

nowhere is any age documented for the ex-spouse, but this seems to now potentially be an issue. any help greatfully received.

i personally would have thought it shouldn't matter o/wise if a forces pensioner had a much younger ex-spouse, they might never receive any money?!

The ex spouse has to be of pensionable age i.e she has to be due her own state pension. Before that time, it sits in a seperate account.

The bloke loses the % immediately, but the money isn't payable until the ex is owed her own pension having worked the requisite number of years.
