Exploding oven door update

Options
A while back I posted about the outer glass which shattered on my oven door. It was two and a half years old. The manufacturer gives a 5 year parts guarantee but was still going to charge a fixed fee of £109 for fitting the replacement glass. Every penny counts at the moment so I contacted my insurance. Because the oven is built in, it comes off the building insurance not the contents. They took the barest of details, did not send anyone to check and have sent me a Comet card preloaded with the amount to buy a similar brand new cooker. Amazing! :T

  • Know anyone that needs anything electrical?
Buy it for them with the card, get them to pay you & then get the cooker repaired.

    Thanks for the advice everyone.
Yes I could have repaired the door because they still sell the part and bought goods to the value instead (preloaded card). However the oven was not brilliant anyway and as I might have to try and sell the house next year due to losing my job, I thought it would be better spent on the actual oven.
If things look up I will go for a new TV, but I think I would get better value from another retailer.
