http://www.7-zip.org/ is free and covers most formats.0

If it's literally just a .zip file, even windows can already open them. Although for anything more complex +1 for 7zip. It's free whereas Winrar and Winzip are not paid/shareware."She is quite the oddball. Did you notice how she didn't even get excited when she saw this original ZX-81?"

3rd for 7-zip, but as someone else has said windows by default can extract zip files, however most people use other formats like .rar, .7z
I suggest a nice program like Tugzip http://www.tugzip.com/ or IZARC http://www.izarc.org/0
