I need to do a balance transfer, 0% (about 3k). The only ones on here are 6 months.
Has anyone seen any for 9 or 12 months?
Thanks.0 -
Hi Moneyfacts
Welcome to MSE & the credit card board.
Thanks for posting. I don't disagree with your reasoning. The new M&S life-of-balance offer is a good deal as long as those who request balance transfers don't spend on the card as well!
I believe it's important to point out that Moneyfacts is a comparison service. Unlike MoneySavingExpert, it’s a profit-driven site that lists most, but not all best buys due to its commercial relationships.
You can get suggestions here on MSE if you click on *Balance Transfers* in the black box at the top of this board. For a comprehensive list of fee-free 0% balance transfers and life-of balance cards, updated regularly, see also tables at:

OK, thanks for your help. I don't really want to pay interest on my credit card debt. I may just put it on a 6 month one for now.
I'll keep an eye on the site you mentioned too.0 -
Hi ChuckleVision
Sadly not at the mo. Until 15 September 2006, I recommended the Union card which offered 0% fee-free balance transfers for 9 months. (I signed up for the charity version in April.) Unfortunately, Bank of Scotland have now rejigged the Ts & Cs and introduced handling charges.
If only a fee-free balance transfer will do (and I've managed to avoid handling charges myself until now), 6 months is the longest 0% promotion available.
In July I signed up with Bank of Ireland. The bank's Post Office card still offers fee-free 0% balance transfers for 6 months. What's more, unlike many of its competitors, the free balance transfers can be made for the entire 6 month promotional period. Every time you make a monthly payment, you can request another BT. This doesn't cost you a penny You get 0% on retail purchases for 6 months as well.
The Post Office card accepts balance transfers from all other UK credit cards and all lenders accept transfers from the PO.
Whereas most competitors insist on a margin of up to 10% in case of late payment, over limit fees etc, the Post Office allows customers to borrow right up to their credit limit.
For a straightforward, no-tricks deal, it's hard to beat IMO.People who don't know their rights, don't actually have those rights.0 -
Post 157 Obviously contravenes the following from the board code of conduct:
"9.2.4 post or transmit chain letters or pyramid schemes"
how do we report it or get it removed?
Edited: Post 157 removed it now seems it's me that may be at fault!

Would it be unduly cynical of me to suggest those six email addresses are all his? :rolleyes:God save the King!

Hi,
FYI, just tried on-line application for post-office Ccard with 0% balance transfer. Website gets stuck at final page and doesn't confirm if your application has gone thru. I called the customer service number (0845 607 6500) who admitted there is a problem with their website. Suggested I call back in 24-48 hours to see if it has gone thru or, if it hasn't, to apply on the phone at that time.
Best wishes

Hi sdboyle
Welcome to MSE & the credit card board!
Thanks for your feedback. The secure part of the Post Office website doesn't work with my browser, so I applied for the card over the phone and was told my credit limit there and then. I would certainly recommend this route.
Very best

Hi there, nah wrote:Looking at the application form for the Capital One Platinum MasterCard I can't seem to see any reference to the £100 spend 'catch' in the first three months?
I am sure when I looked before it was obvious, but now I can't see it. Has it been removed? or am I just missing it??
It is 0% until January 2008
No, seems they've changed their tactics. Be sure to download the full T&Cs of supply. There's an interesting section there on page on that reads:-Total charge for credit:
At the time the agreement is made, is £123.63
Comprising interest in the sum of: £123.63
Which reads to me as if they are going to charge you £123.63 in interest, even if you don't make any balance transfers or purchases straightaway.
How does that work then? You incur interest on monies you haven't borrowed? *blinks*
I'm not sure about this one at all. Seems a bit tricky to me.
Any thoughts?
