That was taken in for scrappage?!:eek::eek::eek::eek::eek: You couldn't make things like that up! Looks great condition too.

    Mind boggling isn't it?

Apparently though it's just the tip of the iceberg,as many classic car owners will be tempted to part with their treasures thus robbing people of seeing motors of a bygone age.

    What a bloody tragedy.

I guess I'm lucky insofar as I am able to pilot this on occasions, which belongs to a friend, and not the sort of thing that your average car dealer would be interested:

I saw a late 70's car on the back of a truck outside a car dealers, but not being knowledgeable couldn't figure out what it was (had no badge). Have also seen a Montego parked in a dealer's yard, probably for scrappage. Suppose they're more a rarity than a classic though.,

The idea that anyone would scrap something as wonderful as a Moggie Minor I find utterly abhorrent. Why on Earth would anyone choose a mundane new Hyundai over that? I'm after one myself as a first car; just all the decent ones are waay beyond the price range of an average teenager!

I wish all VW beetles were scrapped tho, !!!!!!! awful cars (both old and new models ;) ). Can never understand why they were so popular.

bad news I'm afraid. we were delighted when our daughter approached 17 and wanted to start driving as she was keen to use Jenny, our moggy minor. Well, we thought such an old and slow car will eb brilliantly cheap on insurance for her but no couldn';t find a company that would insure her to drive a moggy till she is 21.

Nice car. I hope the auction survives the eBay police and doesn't get cancelled. Unfortunately eBay take a dim view of charity auctions that don't use their formal charity listing method.

Really? I've had loads of 'reasonable' quotes just off insuresupermarket, best was Kwik Fit premium (£1250 comp, 18yo male). Give it a try!

How come the brand new ebayer is regsitered in High Wycombe, when the car is located in Chelmsford at the dealer it was traded into?
There is also no history with the car, since the last owner presumed it was going to be scrapped so didn't worry about passing these on.
Surely the seller knew it wasn't going for scrap after the dealership owner offered to buy it instead?
