Silent Call - 0208 465 9833

Options
Hello all,

I've just had a silent call from the above number on my mobile, no-one there when I answered and then when I called back first got a 1571 answermachine message saying they were on the phone, second time I called back it was silent again the other end after ringing a couple of times.

Scam do you think? should I be worried?

I wouldn't normally answer but was caught off guard!!

I think they might have to talk to you to try and scam you, probably someone got a wrong number and doesn't want to talk to you or it's someone messing around.

Or...it's someone calling you to see if you are in so they know if they can rob the place or not :p Although as they haven't barred their number I think this one is unlikely so don't worry ;)
  • melorablack thanks for your reply.. it was my mobile.. so they won't know if I'm in or not!! :-)

It could be one of those automated diallers maybe, to see if its an active line. not much i can do now really!!

I literally probably stayed on for 10 seconds when I called back because there was no answer and I thought better of it!

I wasn't making a criticism, the way it was put just didn't make sense. If it was someone you knew and they had got a bad connection surely they would have rung you again ? If it was a sales/marketing call, who knows, why bother ?
  • I googled it without the spaces and it came up on http://whocallsme.com/Phone-Calls.aspx/020 as a "suspicious number", whatever that is... Mind you, half the phone numbers in London seem to come up on the list!
:D**Thanks to everyone on here for hints, tips and advice!**:D

Just leave it at that... if it was important they would have called back or left you a message.

Ive had a few calls on my mobile from numbers I do not recognise. I just usually let it ring out and wait till they leave me a voicemail.
If not, I do not bother.

    Hope this helps
