Cleaning PC fan...

My fan is at the front of the box so i guess i cann just unplug it all and take the cover off. Using the nozzle and hoover, hover over the fan and whisk the muck away. Is it that easy? Am i allowed to touch the fan or will that cause problems? Peeps also tell me to earth myself first...huh?

You should Earth yourself first i.e. So that you don't collect Electric Charges.
If you do and you get close to the inside of your PC, a spark or an electric shock generated by you will FRY your pc.
As for the FAn, yes...get a hover and just blow it out into the hover. Use a small wipe to clean it properly and then replace it.

Attach a Jump lead to your leg, that should do the trick ;)

Just keep your hand on the case, or I usually put my bare foot on the side panel that I've taken off, it works for me, true.................:)

P.S I use a clean small paintbrush and a can of compressed air, far better as a Vac can produce static electric, and thats what to avoid in the first place.

Just unplug and take outside with lid off and blow out.

Gee, just give it a clean, I normally leave a computer plugged in (with the power off) when working on it, as that'll make sure it's grounded. :)

    ^ wrong wrong wrong ^

if you unplug the power to the pc and then touch it you will not be earthed.

leave the power cable plugged in, but the switch at the wall off, and so long as you are touching an exposed part of the case you will be earthed safely.
you will not electrocute yourself either so long as it's switched off at the wall.

the rest is all good, just do whatever to get rid of the dust and crap :)

but ignore the bunkum above about unplugging.
