Symantec was actually removed by Microsoft support when they had a virus problem initially. I guess there may still be bits on here. I have removed the liveupdate software but can not remove Norton utilities 2002. Ahhhhh. No uninstall program. Will have a search.
Did you read post #5?
Sometimes wonder why we bother if people can't read what has been posted.

Yes, Read it and tried it,
It is Norton 2002 (see post #11
) and the removal tool will not work for such an old version. Any idea's? 0 -

To uninstall Norton AntiVirus by using the Rnav2003.exe removal utility- Only use this if you cannot uninstall Norton AntiVirus through Add/Remove Programs. Uninstalling Norton AntiVirus through Windows does a more thorough job of removing the program.
- Follow the instructions in How to uninstall Norton AntiVirus using the Rnav2003.exe removal utility to download and run the Rnav2003.exe removal utility. The Rnav2003.exe removal utility is attached under step 1 in the "To download and run Rnav2003.exe"section of that document.
- Rnav2003.exe cannot remove NAV if it is installed as a part of Norton SystemWorks or Norton Internet Security. If Norton AntiVirus was installed as part of:
- Norton SystemWorks: Uninstall Norton SystemWorks first, then run the Rnav2003.exe removal utility.
- Norton Internet Security: Uninstall Norton Internet Security first, then run the Rnav2003.exe removal utility.

Looks like a dead end with the software Rnav2003.exe. Wondered why I couldn't find anything on symantec when I searched.

We're Sorry ...
An error has occurred in the Symantec Knowledge Base.
Unfortunately ran out of time on this fix so will have to have another go at it in a week or so. Thanks for your help everyone.

Will try that when I get back to the PC.

The last one can be a tad nasty so id recommend a scan with malwarebytes next ~
Download MALWAREBYTES (Make sure you click 'DOWNLOAD LATEST VERSION')
http://www.filehippo.com/download_malwarebytes_anti_malware/
Open malwarebytes and goto UPDATE and click 'check for updates'. After its updated goto SCANNER and click PERFORM FULL SCAN then click SCAN
