Claim child tax credits, housing benefit (LHA) council tax benefit. Are you living with a partner? as HB/CT might not be applicable.*SIGH*

if you are single you might be able to switch to income support depending on the age of the child0

Living on my own - child is 14.
Came to live with me at start of Oct, so things a bit tight but was told had to get CB transferred to me before I could claim anything else and not yet through.0 -
Not totally true, you can claim child tax credits without child benefit. I didn't think it was necessary to mention Child supportbillytsoul wrote: »Living on my own - child is 14.

was paying child support for him-wrote to csa for details of my options but no reply. Have 2 kids on present csa order,(one still with ex) so to me it seemed easiest for ex to close the claim and to arrange sensible plan for repayment of any outstanding - must surely be better/easier/neater than my filing a claim?
Admit CB first advice-tho from 2 seperate sources, was not from DWP-didn't think it would take so long to transfer!!0 -
CB can take up to 12 weeks IIRC.billytsoul wrote: »was paying child support for him-wrote to csa for details of my options but no reply. Can't claim Income Support due to the age of the child - unless you have another child under 10 living with you.0
