Thanks for all the responses. I admit to stressing a bit about money, taking on such a large mortgage just as the credit crunch kicks in does that to you!
I do enjoy my money perhaps not as much as I should because I work phenomenally long hours (which may be why I am single).
Ultimate ambition is to knock the mortgage on the head asap, leave the job and have more time to enjoy life.0 -
Mish Mash, your ultimate ambition sounds extremely sensible to me. In no way was I trivialising your attitudes and, believe me there are worse things in life than being single! (I still think you should consider the Jimmy Choos though).0

Good luck to you mishmash, You won't regret getting all this sorted now, believe me, once the foundations are in place you can do exactly what you want with your life while others are in hock to their debts and firmly attached to the work treadmill..
I used to call it the 'F*ck off Factor.'
Worked for me.:)
Trying to keep it simple...0 -

To be fair HP did also post a useful response on the money angle, why was this chaser necessary?
Come now Ed, that's grasping at straws and I very much doubt you'd have even noticed my 'chaser' at all without the shoe remarks that other people made (after my post), and even more so had the OP not been female.
I stand by my remarks about how when one has laid good financial foundations (as the OP clearly has) that one can relax a little and enjoy spending some of that money too. I see so many people on here and elsewhere who are so intent on saving up so that they can live for tomorrow, that they should also live for today. A balance is required and from the later remarks of the OP my comments weren't too far off target."I can hear you whisperin', children, so I know you're down there. I can feel myself gettin' awful mad. I'm out of patience, children. I'm coming to find you now." - Harry Powell, Night of the Hunter, 1955.0
