Mini - is this a good deal?

Yeah, the car I linked to does have a few extras, but they're extras I don't really want/need. Heated mirrors/jets, for example, are things I cant envisage making a worthwhile difference. Chrome Line exterior is quite nice though.
I think the only extra I'd pay to have is the Bluetooth USB, which isn't far off £300!
Hadn't heard anything back from S.Hull Sytner, so my OH phoned them today and spoke to the manager - surprise surprise, the sales guy phoned me within 10 minutes, full of apologies.
Said he couldn't possibly px my car as it's Cat D, and the will not accept it unless the HPI is cleared! Said their 'Police discount' is 3% so roughly £233.
So, quite far off from the 'deal' in my 1st post, which was offered by Birmingham Sytner. I let the guy carry on, telling me I probably wouldn't get one before January, would have to pay the 2.5% extra. When he'd finished, I told him what Birmingham had quoted on the phone. It went silent for a moment, and he was scribbling it all down, was shocked by the difference, as he said they all use the same system bla bla.
Apparently someone is going to be phoning me tomorrow, either the Manager or another sale guy (this one won't be in tomorrow) so I'll have to see. I told them that 5% flat rate for finance was a little higher than I expected, so I'll have to see what they can offer.0 -
Sytner S.hull phoned me today and said that there is no chance that I would get one before 2010 as there's no stock in the UK and they have no build slots at present. He suggested that I deal with B'ham because they *might* have stock.
So, rang B'ham, and the woman I spoke to couldnt find the figures which are quoted in my OP as it was another salesman who dealt with that, and he wasn't there today. Anyway, she looked at the stock for me, and she said it's very unlikely I'd get anything before 1st week of Jan, as it takes approx 6 weeks from date of order. She said that there is an expected build w/c 14th Dec, but even so, the car probably wouldn't be delivered until early Jan. She said they *might* be able to offer a goodwill gesture towards the VAT increase, but I'll find out tomorrow when the salesman calls back.
Interestingly, I've just been on the Rybrook Mini site, and they've stated:
The Government is expected to increase VAT to 17.5% 1st Jan 2010 , what differance does this make to you ? well it will make hundreds of pounds if your are buying a new car !
Here at Rybrook Stratford we think this is a little unfair , so if you place an order for a new MINI before Christmas and take delivery before 28th February 2010 we will cover the 2.5% VAT increase. (excludes scrappage deals and MINI First)
Thing is, they might not offer the 575 off that Sytner have, as the police discount only applies to Sytner, but I'll definitely give them a ring, see if they can match/beat it. If not, I'll ring Sytner and see if they can meet the Rybrook VAT offer, lol. Worth a try.0
