Difficulty with refund of credig from Spark Energy

I have recently, approximately 6 weeks ago, changed my gas and electricity provider from Spark Energy to Eon.

the reason for the change is unimportant - although it boils down to a total lack of communication from Spark.

My problem is this - the lack of communication continues. Because the deal with spark included a percentage cash back at the end of the first year I have been left with a credit of £383.

I have eventually received a final bill after many calls but I have yet to receive the refund. Trying to get through to them by phone is near impossible and when I do they continuously promise to call back but never do.

This is a large sum of money which I desperately need to cover other bills. I really don't know now how to take this further. can anyone help please.

  • We've had the same problem with Spark. They're completely non responsive. they owe us over £300 after charging us for electricity since April under a different meter serial number (long story).

    You'll need to submit a complaint through their official customer service complaints channel. After 8 weeks and no resolution, you can then submit an application through the energy ombudsman. We're not there yet.

  • Same here. Took 12 months. Got most of the money refunded after I lodged with the small claims court. Avoid Spark at all costs: they seem, from reading posts here and on MoneySupermarket, to have a habit, shall we say, of overcharging, and being very slow to refund.
  • I am too waiting for refund of about £250 from past 5 months
