I have a bag of National Transort Tokens (approx £50) that I found when clearing an elederly relatives house. They are dated 2003, can they still be used?

Don't think so - they were replaced by bus passes.
But check with your local authority
Collectors may buy them on e-bay0 -
Yes they can.Sunflowers wrote: »I have a bag of National Transort Tokens (approx £50) that I found when clearing an elederly relatives house. They are dated 2003, can they still be used?
Portsmouth City Council still issues them each year to over 60s who do not want a bus pass. They can be used on taxis, buses and trains, but maybe only in the area they are issued. I buy my Senior Railcard with them.
There may well be other local authorities who also issue them.0 -
Thanks for reply - will try to use on the train tomorrow. You don't think the date is a problem?0

Here is a list of the authorities that issue National Travel Tokens.
I have no idea how up-to-date that list is.
There is a 'contact us' page on that website. Perhaps they will buy them back?
The date will not be a problem, but I am pretty sure you will have trouble using them where they are not frequenty seen.0 -
the only N T T that are accepted now are the silver plastic ones with no expiry date on. If yours are a coloured plastic token with an expiry date on they will no longer be accepted.0

If you are obviously under 60 would they be accepted anyway?0
-
Possibly... but I guess that may depend on location. If you are obviously under 60 would they be accepted anyway?
For example, the Portsmouth City Council website says...The scheme is available to anyone:- aged 60 and over
- aged over 5 who is registered disabled
- who receives Disability Living Allowance that includes a mobility payment
- who has a medical condition that prevents them from driving...
