The Argos card

belleooo wrote:Yes to the first two but no to the third and I still got one. OP, they have probably done you a favour. This card is one of my biggest regrets. It is okay if you are disciplined enough to pay within the allocated time (ie, six months). But the interest is pretty high. Two and a half years ago I bought £200 worth of Christmas items on a buy now pay in 12 months offer. I had every intention of clearing the debt at the time but one thing led to another and it never got paid. Two and a half years down the line I now owe £230. I have paid £10/month over eighteen months which equates to £180 in payments. Yet I still owe the original debt plus an extra £30. Do yourself a favour and steer clear of any uneccesary debt.
I'm very good with the little money i've got always pay bills on time and things like that so i wouldn't be worried about paying it off before the 6 months are up:)
Maybe i should have been an accountant when i left school:DDarren0 -
Dalkirst wrote:Well he got the form out and said have you got your work details before anything esle was said so no didn't fill the form in.I get Incapacity benefit.Funny how you can get taxed on this but it counts as not working
You should still be able to apply as you are on Incapacity benefit. The reason they may not have carried on filling the form in was the person was new maybe not sure. Go back in and tell them that you are on benefits they have to put you down as retired on the form. Hope your lucky ,but do as one of the other posts have said and pay it off when you intend to not keep it going, as with all store cards they are a very high APR if you not gonna pay it off then pay it off with a CC and then pay that off works out cheaper in the long run0 -
Thanks. He wasn't he's been there for some time i think as i have seen him in there a few times and quite a long time too:)Darren0

Can someone who works for Argos help me out here please?
I have justb checked on the Argos website about the card and it does indeed say work for 15 hours a week or more so my other half could apply. What i need to know to save a wasted journey is what work details do you need to provide?
ThanksDarren0 -
If you are on incapacity benefits you can apply for an argos card, they just put it down as retired (i work for argos and have done this several times)
In answer to your question "what work details do you need to provide?" All they need is where they work, how long they have worked there and the place of works phone number (not really needed, but increase chance of being excepted) They will also if your purchasing that day need two forms of ID, one with your address on (something like a recent utility bill, passport etc)
hope that helps0 -
Thanks do you need anything with the work details on though or just tell them the details?Darren0
