Do previous tenants debts affect credit rating?

I've lived in my house for 18 months and never had a problem getting credit before but now nobody will give me anything, for no apparent reason as when i checked my Experian credit report everything was satifactory. I'm wondering if the fact that the previous tenants being in debt (which they were quite badly) would affect me getting credit at this address?
If so, how do i sort it? If not why am i getting turned down? The only answer i'm getting is that my credit score wasn't good enough but i've never not repaid anything and everything seems fine!

Credit ratings are by person, not by address. If, for example, someone wants to perform a search on a person for CCJs and the like, they must supply a name - the organisation that keeps this info will never complete a search made solely by address.

A similar thread from another poster advised that they probably had a low credit score simply because they didn't have a credit card and had no other current loans, therefore (unfortunately) had a low credit score simply because they were good at managing their money and hadn't used much credit!

Have you got too much credit available to you at present? Lenders are tightening up on the maximum total borrowing in relation to your income. Are you registered to vote at your current address?
