Cheap holiday for kids

I guess like most people I need a holiday, and to that end I have been looking round various websites trying to get something booked up. However most of these websites are extremely frustrating to use, so I have decided to ask you nice people for some advice, i've read these forums for quite a while but this is my first post. Ok enough waffling, here is what I want:

A cheap holiday in a park like pontins/haven/whatever that is not too far from essex in July or September. Anyone got any advise or any websites that you can recommend that do a price comparison for these sorts of things? Looking through the(frankly rubbish) sites one at a time is a complete nightmare.

for two adults and two kids

I always find I haven't enough money left for holidays - especially in the summer hols when prices rocket. Looked at 3 nights at Haven and it sent me prematurely grey!
What I've decided to do now find the Travelodge offers (£26.50 or £15 per night), research the nearby attractions and do it that way - looking at an overnight and a day at Birmingham Seaworld and an overnight and a day at Drayton Manor Park & Zoo so far. I know it probably ends up getting just as expensive this way, but at least I can do it in short stints and save a few quid for the next trip. I', also looking around places like here and Ebay for cheap tickets into the attractions.

A cheap flight from Stansted and cheap accommodation might be cheaper.

if u can go middle - late sept that will be cheaper

eg Butlins self catering a week in late july = from £616

and the same in late sept = from £ 390

    which is still extortionate IMO

we had 4 nights in butlins in april for £70 for family of 4 !!

would you consider going to france ? eg 6 nights in normandy area from september 11th , inc ferry crossing ,staying in a supertent is just £146 !!! there are other options of course if you didnt want the tent

    have a look on https://www.keycamp.co.uk https://www.canvas.co.uk and https://www.eurocamp.co.uk

hi try holidaying in france in school holidays ferries from dover are around sixty pound return including car and five passengers
petrol is cheaper so you can travel around quite cheaply
also accomadation can be quite reasnoable if you shop around
we use frenchgites2000@yahoo.co.uk small company who can put you
in contact directly with owners this saves on cost as posh rental sites
    can be pricey

Have you thought about Clacton as your destination ? Just outside Clacton there is a place called St Osyth and there are 3 caravan sites to my knowledge (probably more). There is the Haven site, Seawick and Hutleys. There are loads of caravans some privately owned others site owned and judging by the local shops , rentals in summer holidays is possible cheaply. A cousin of ours picked up a deal for a 6 berth caravan for £150 INCLUDING entertainment passes. Check e-bay but I am sure you will get some success .Hutleys tel no is 01255 820712 Good luck
