If the LL's happy with the date of the 14th, then on the 8th you'd need to pay rent from 8th to 14th. This is seven days, so pay a week's rent.

Change the figures here to find out how much: http://www.google.co.uk/search?hl=en&source=hp&q=300*12%2F365*7&meta=&aq=f&oq= where £300 is the rent, 12 is number of months, 365 is days of the year, 7 days you're staying.

Cancel your standing order now and change it for a one off payment for the right amount.

You need to tell the forum if you have a fixed term contract or are a periodic tenant and what your contract says about the notice period. Is your rental period monthly? your post is too vague.

As jowo says & also how often you pay rent - eg if monthly it is usually 1 month notice in periodic, if 3months rent each time then longer, IIRC...

  • You should only owe the week rent, if your landlord is happy for you to leave then. My friends had a landlord who insisted on a full final month of rent as they wanted to terminate the lease 3 weeks early to go into their new place and the landlord didn't have a new tenant (according to their lease agreement they could only terminate early by mutual agreement). I'd suggest you contact your landlord to agree on a final settlement payment and get it in writing.
