Heatline C28 boiler - room thermostat

Hi all,

Bought one of these yesterday: http://www.wickes.co.uk/Room-Thermostat/invt/210363 .. with a view to fitting it to a noisy (but functional, for now) Heatline C28 condenser boiler.

I've been on the website and have the instructions but still none the wiser on how to connect the thermostat to it. Anyone here done the same? Or have some proper instructions?

The instructions are aimed at those setting timers and whatnot, I need a wiring diagram. Perfectly capable when armed with those thank you.

Generally speaking 230V stats are not suitable for combi boilers. They utilise an anticipator (tiny heater) to enable accurate temp control and this requires a neutral connection. Without this you will get wildly variable results i.e. +/-6 degrees.

You would be better off using a battery powered volt-free stat, better yet a programmable one and disable the 24 hour timer on the boiler.

And remember that you will need to remove any TRV's that are already fitted in the same zone as the room 'stat.

Still need to wire it up though, anyone got a diagram for this boiler?

Buy a Volt free thermostat from B&Q, It's about £10 Sunvic TLX4101. Connect terminal 1 (thermostat) to one terminal of 24 V connection on the boiler (right on the left side when you open the main panel block) connect terminal 2 (thermostat) to other terminal of 24V connection on the boiler. Third terminal on the thermostat remains free. Simple.:j
