Mice in Car?
I am finding occasional pieces of foam on the dashboard of a newly acquired car. When I first got it there was quite a lot but as the car was filthy I thought nothing of it.
I can't see holes in the roof lining but all I can think is that there are mice up there. Do you agree?
If so, any recommendations of where I should place traps - dashboard or floor maybe?
Any advice would be welcome as I don't want my nice new car eaten.

Could be the pollen filter breaking up and coming through your vents. What car and year is it?0

Mice are destructive little !!!!!!s. They did £1500 worth of damage to my wife's car a few years back. Luckily the insurance company paid up (after having a good laugh about it!).
Put traps in the footwells for a couple of nights and see what you get. Take photos as proof if you catch any.0 -
Left a couple of bags of peanuts stored on a Volvo estate for a day or two. Mistake. Peanuts were found in every orifice from front to back.I'd rather be an Optimist and be proved wrong than a Pessimist and be proved right.0

Friends who live in the country had mice making a meal of their Audi wiring loom giving them no end of problems (at least thats what Audi said).0

Thanks all - I'll try a few traps. It's a Kia Picanto - don't think it's posh enough for a pollen filter. The pieces of dark foam are about 6mm across.0

You don't need too sensitive a nose to smell the little !!!!!!s. Also, pull out the rear bench seat and see if there are any traces (droppings, chewed up foam etc.)0

when i was a student i would borrow cats on the way home at 2am and then another house mate would let it out at 8am on the way to uni
This was the best way to deal with our mouse problem0 -
I trapped 7 in the Volvo.I'd rather be an Optimist and be proved wrong than a Pessimist and be proved right.0

I found three snails living in my Defender a couple of weeks ago. I wouldn't mind but they've eaten the parking permits off the windscreen! Luckily the waterproof tax disc holder kep them at bay :rolleyes:0

just be glad you aint harbouring a cat our 07 plate works ford transit was rather warm and roomy under the bonnet and this particular cat liked the warm engine bay that is insulated, we'd get in it in the mornings and the blowers would be on (was winter) and a stark smell of cat would enter the cabin, time went by over all of a couple of weeks the smell grew and grew then one morning driving to hereford from home (south wales) we heared MEOW! looking at eachother in amazment i asked my work m8 what you making noises like a cat for he said it wasnt him so pulling in layby we searched under the seats in the back all we heared was meow! meow! so listening by the bonnet i heared it louder pulled the bonnet up and there she was a lovely tabby! we contacted our boss who then contacted rspca they came we said where we were from or rather where driver was from! they said that they would take her back to south wales but to the local vet first for a check up, turns out it was my work m8 neighbours cat and she was chipped LUCKY PUDDY TAT i say.0
