    Hi nkomp18
Like you I need to lose weight I have been following sw & have lost 2 stone 8 I have been getting a bit lazy of late stuck in a rut & seeming to be eating the same stuff & not using up my store cupboard stash , I have loads of different rice, pulses & pasta, the next couple of months are going to be hard youngest dd who has two children has been given Notice to quit the property she is renting so has two months to find something so we are going to need to save as much as we can to help her out , she is a single parent & needs to stay in the area she is in (she lives in Essex we live in London) as the school her son gose to is very good for his special needs & she dose not want to upset him, so I will get double to doing the inventory of my cupboards/fridge/freezer & post back

I must have every different type of rice & pasta going so lots of rice & pasta based dish on the menu over the next few weeks, loads of tined pulses of all kinds , loads of tined veg.
Lots of jars of capers, olives, gherkins, pickled onions, so food wise for Christmas on the pickle side of things sorted !!
I have just one cupboard to go & that is the one that contains all my herbs & spices & of coarse the freezer so I am going to have to get very inventive, hopefully will be able to save some dosh lol

I've read that if you freeze the flour before storing it, it kills any mites and eggs.

Gigervamp is correct, you need to freeze flour to kill mite and weevils

However if you have an infestation they will move into any dry product so remove and check everything. Wash down the cupboard, removing shelves if you can. All non contaminated food needs to be put in to containers

An ideas for what to do with coconut chips and cacao nibs? Obviously bought with good intentions but have been languishing in cupboard!

I'm doing a version of this challenge this week (and perhaps next week too, depending on how it goes). I need to run my freezer stocks down to make way for veg I'm harvesting from the garden, and I aim to empty two freezer drawers within the next fortnight.

Therefore I shall be meal planning from the freezer, cupboards and fresh garden produce only. I've set myself a budget of £10 a week for anything else I need (milk, butter, cat food etc). Wish me luck!

I shall be hopefully living from my supplies when I get home from my holidays this Friday as I am away again mid-September to Scotland for a few days visiting relatives for a family reunion.I am only coming from Kent They are arriving from Australia and Canada :).So I shall be belt-tightening during the month as two holidays only a couple of weeks apart :)Luckily I have more than enough stuff in the freezer and cupboards so will only need fresh fruit and veg and milk for the month (fingers crossed)
