Car tax exemption

Hi everyone

I'm now in receipt of the higher rate of DLA and can claim for car tax exemption. I've recieved my certificate of entitlement (DLA404) - can anyone explain to me in plain english what I need to do next please? I found the forms very confusing or maybe I'm just thick lol.

The tax on my car runs out at the end of January 2010.

Thanks very much

Kimmee

    Hi Kimme,
I have one of these, as you can see there are 4 declarations (4 years worth) where it asks for your signature, vehicle reg and date. When you need to tax your vehicle take this form together with car docs to the post office (with one of declarations filled in) and they will stamp it an give you your tax disc. Keep it safe and once you have filled the form you send for another.
    Hope this helps.

    Thanks Boo & Tobruk

I think I've got it now - I'll need to take the V11 reminder, when it arrives, along with the exemption certificate, MOT cert and registration cert to a post office. The reason I'm confused (I think!) is that I used to get DLA a couple of years ago (it was withdrawn and then reinstated) and then, because I was exempt, I had to apply for my car tax at the nearest DVLA office by post. I guess this must have changed.

    Thank again.
