Kitchen retro-fitting stuff - any suggestions?

Hi All,
I've finally got the keys to my first home, after so much wonderful help from you all!!
I've just got a couple of what might seem basic queries about my kitchen, but I'm prepared to sound a fool - hey ho, here I go!
My first is that it has cheap granite-effect worksurfaces (laminate? it has a midde made of fibre/chipboard) but in a couple of places there are just sawn edges - which obviously look unsightly.
Is there anywhere I can get either matching, or maybe metal edging, to finish it off nicely?
Also, as the kitchen is a galley kitchen, there's not a huge amount of storage space, just basic base units.
I was wondering whether it is possible to buy and retro-fit some of those funky pull-out storage shelves for the base cabinets, rather than just have empty cavities as I'd be able to store more 'stuff' then?
If that's the case, where's best to get them from?
Many thanks for your help in advance...

All laminate worktops have matching edging strips which are glued on (I think ours were put on with Evo-stick, smelly stuff in a small tin). When you buy new laminate worktop there should be a length of edging strip that comes with it. As yours is already in the kitchen you should try and identify which it is and ask if you can buy just the edging strip. Not sure if the DIY sheds sell just the strips, but I think your biggest problem is identifying the worktop in the first place as there are so many. The other alternative is the metal edging you have mentioned which is functional but doesn't look so good. You could probably get that in the sheds too.I was wondering whether it is possible to buy and retro-fit some of those funky pull-out storage shelves for the base cabinets, rather than just have empty cavities as I'd be able to store more 'stuff' then?

If you go to any of the sheds and pick up their kitchen brochures, they will have a section showing what accessories are available. You should be able to find what you want in there. Just make sure you measure properly and make sure they will fit and work OK. Can you identify the make of the kitchen or where it came from (maybe ask previous owner), that might be better to ensure you get the right stuff.
If you have a local independent kitchen supplier it might be worth asking if they can supply these items.0 -
If you want to buy the wire pullout things for inside cabinets brace yourself before you look at the prices. They are incredibly expensive compared to the costs of the basic kitchen unit. Also think carefully about which ones will be useful to you and which just look cool, because they can actually reduce the usable space inside a cabinet rather than increase it.0

Hi thanks for your suggestions - I have a Homebase and a Wickes nearby so will look in there on Monday.
Thanks again,
