Thanks, someone told me the top of the units should be 190 mil from the floor or something? its a standard height for a kitchen he was saying? does anyone know this?

The underside of the worktop needs to be at least 85cm above the floor (including any floor covering), as things like washing machines/dishwashers etc. are normally 85cm high.

I say this as the idiot who installed the kitchen for the previous owners of my house made them *exactly* 85cm high, with the result that the washing machine is a very tight squeeze, even with no floor covering underneath it...
For every complex problem there is an answer that is clear, simple and wrong.

That must be annoying, When I had a rented flat a year ago I had to near enough lif the worktop at one side to squeeze mine in aswell, must have been 84 cm

We are at cross purposes here :j

We have high ceiling and above the wall cupboards is a 9 inch gap .
So its a false wall !! wallpapered and painted to match walls.

Have said I might post piccys of kitchen , but its nearly five years since I did it.

Mine should be easy to do as its VERY small, when you walk into it their are cupboards to your right and cupboards to your left so like a hallway but only like 3m in length! No edges or anything to cut with the worktop so hopefully I will be able to do it! Any tips with the extractor fan? Put that up first or? it has charcoal at the top so no need for a vent

the height to the top of the wall units will be completely dependent on the size of the wall units and the gap underneath. I dont think there is a standard for either but I know there is a minimum you can have things above a gas hob (think its 750mm)

Mine is attached to the wall units as well as back wall , so it was installed when I got to that part of the 'run'

Ps off out for the evening , check for pics Tues.
