Hi - my wife and I sold our house in Feb, nearly ten months ago.
Our solicitors paid all of the funds to Debt Free Direct, and a full and final was readily agreed. (roughly 90p in the pound).
Everyone was happy....
However - despite numerous calls to DFD we STILL haven't had a completion certificate.
Last time I spoke to them about a month ago, they said that it was in hand.
how long does it normally take??!!?!!?!

Hi
If it is anything like my experience you just have to keep on at them - literally morning, noon and night. I started my IVA in October 2006. I took voluntary redundancy at work in June 2007 and a full and final settlement was agreed via creditors meeting in August 2007. In June 2008 I received a demanding letter from one of my old creditors so I contacted my supervisor and was told to my utter horror that it was still not complete! One of my creditors had come back after the agreement and said they wouldn't accept the final value amount offered. My supervisor asked me if I could afford to pay anymore - I told them I could but I wouldn't because thankfully I had the kept the paperwork the supervisor had sent me from the creditors meeting which clearly stated the final amount was in full settlement. Eventually they back down and I received my completion certificate in October 2008. I'm not sure if my experience is the "norm" though. Maybe I was just unlucky. Also, when you do receive your completion certificate make sure you check your creditors update your credit file, again I didn't do this until recently and it showed I had 6 credit accounts still outstanding!! Aaaarggghhhh!! All sorted now though.

I am in exactly the same boat in Scotland, 7 months Ive been waiting for closure since my last payment. Ive even had my solicitors on the case as I cant complete on buying my parents house untill Im clear, its like they just want to laugh at you and I effectively feel like Im being held to ransom for having my life back on track. Surely there must be some time limit by law.0
