i have a sticker on my door saying no doorstep sellers, it doesnt stop some of them knocking, when i point it out most of them apologise, the odd insistent ones i stop them mid sentence and shut the door.0

Most of the energysalesmen that have darkened my door say they arent there to sell anything, just to check we are on the cheapest tariff etc. I bet this leaflet is just a "you and your rights" type thing, not a "Spot the lying scumbag" leaflet which is what is really needed.Missing Tesco R&R since Feb '07 :A & now a "Tesco veteran" apparently!

The advice given isn't specific to energy suppliers - it is about rogue doorstep sellers.
e.g.
and- don't hand over a cash deposit
- don't agree to a trader starting any work straight away
Michele Shambrook from the Office of Fair Trading said: "Hasty decisions made on the doorstep can sometimes result in agreeing to work that isn't necessary, that turns out to be more expensive than quoted or that's carried out to a poor standard if it's done at all.
I don't think this has much to do with gas & electricity sales persons.
Remember, you always have a 14 day cooling off period with any gas or electricity contract signed, especially where the seller has approached you on your own property."Now to trolling as a concept. .... Personally, I've always found it a little sad that people choose to spend such a large proportion of their lives in this way but they do, and we have to deal with it." - MSE Forum Manager 6th July 20100 -
Just tell them to !!!! off. No leaflet paid for by an overpaid government quango required

Agreed, either dont open the door in the first place, or if you have no option to open the door to find out who it is (no peep hole or window or anything) just a quick No Thanks and the door shut, and jobs a good un0
