Will a freesat tv work without a satellite dish?

I know this may be a very silly question, but I'm thinking of buying the Panasonic TX-P42G10B TV which comes with freesat, and although I plan to get a satellite dish for it I won't have one for a while.
Will the TV operate on a normal freeview aerial until I have the sat dish? (or if I want to use it elsewhere) - the Comet website says a satellite dish is required. (I know I won't be able to get HD channels without one!)

Thanks

freesat... it needs the dish.
edit: you can still use it as a tv if you have a freeview box or dvd player or whatever you want to use it for!!!!0 -
To receive Freesat channels, you need a dish.
However, the TV will still pick up regular terestrial (ie BBC1 - Ch 5) and all the Freeview, through a normal aerial. you can then access the additional Freesat channels at a later stage, once you get the dish.0 -

Thank you - safe to proceed!:beer:0 -
Not a silly question at all - I was very tempted after reading the title of your post to give a resounding 'no, of course you need a dish'. But... after reading it more carefully I would say the answer is yes.
Of course you need a dish to receive freetsat, but it looks like this TV has a built in DVB tuner (and RF connector) in ADDITION to the freesat. So with a standard TV aerial, you should just be able to receive terrestrial freeview until you get your freesat dish fitted.
The manual is here if you want to check0 -

After dish-ing out this question your viewing whilst sat in front of the TV will be feature lite until you get a Satellite dish.
Sorry but it was too tempting
Realistically if you haven't bought it yet, how much later are you going to get the dish, can you get one for your building ie permission. If not are you paying more for something you won't use?New PV club member. 3.99kW system. Solar Edge with 14 x 285W JA Solar panels. 55° West from south and 35° pitch.0 -
If you line a dustbin lid with Bacofoil and point it in a Westerly direction with an elevation of about 5 degrees,it should be fine.
Other brands of metallic foil are available.Feudal Britain needs land reform. 70% of the land is "owned" by 1 % of the population and at least 50% is unregistered (inherited by landed gentry). Thats why your slave box costs so much..0
