Notice of Being Military on Credit File

I have heard conflicting information about posting a notice on your credit file explaining the moving of house every 2 years (different media reports and colleagues). Some say it will explain it and others say companies try to avoid any notes when rating an application.

Has anyone done this already and what was the impact on loan and mortgage applications?

  • The one that got my husband was living in Barracks, the mess and having gaps not the electrol roll, as the credit reports look at the adress for fraud there was loads. We sent a "notice of correction" to the companies and this is now on file, companies don't have to use it when looking to give you credit.

We have just got a mortgage, it also helps if you don't have any missed payments as they seem to add all of the factors together and also have some credit alredy like a car loan, credit card etc..

I've got myself onto the electoral roll, but a move every 2 years does not look good. I am debating if a notice of correction would help or is more of a double edged sword.

Also, what did you state for the notice? Is it exactly as you submit or do the companies summarise your situation for you?

The Statement must be a truthful account of the facts, so we put something like due to being in the Army and being posted this often meant times in transitant accom, sharing with people not known to me, and there therefore their behaviour should not reflect upon me. I don't know if it as worked but my OH could not get credit when we last tired for a DFS sofa two years ago but we have just been given a mortgage, surley it is worth ago?
