Identity theft

Hi,

First off, sorry that isnt exactly the correct area to post this in but I couldnt find a better one and it has been discussed in here previously.

I have recently been the victim of ID theft and I am in the process of clearing up the mess. I have access to my credit reports from Credit Expert and Equifax and I am going thtough all of the organisations that have performed searches.

I tried to get access to my report from Call Credit but they have sent me a letter saying that they do not have sufficient infromation about me on their records at my current address and they require evidence to confirm my residence.

The only reason I need access to my credit report from them is to see if any applications have been made. Does the fact that they dont have enough details about me mean that any applications made through them will be unsuccessful?

I very rarely use any form of credit. I have a credit card but havent applied for any form of credit for years and years.

I have signed up with CIFAS and also have several CIFAS entries on my credit report from organisations where my details were used. Do I need to get these removed? Do I need to get the searches removed or is it OK to just leave it so that they drop off after 12 months?

Thanks

Alan
