Hi Ladies (and Gents)
I am really struggling to find a cheap cake (apart from the seperates from M&s etc.)
I have been quoted £325 for a 3 tier, I'm sorry but it's a bit of cake and WILL not pay that much.
Has anyone had purchased a cheap one in the North West of England???
I cannot bake so that is not an option

I'll ask my mum if she knows anyone, but its hard to find any cheap ones as it has the magical word 'wedding' in front of the cake bit. They just charge sooo much.
Which is why we are having several triple layer chocolate cakes from M&S! 8 comes to about £75 and we may even mix it up a bit and have some of the white choc and raspberry flavoured ones.2010 is the year of bargain shopping! Time to money save, exercise and plan! I like to keep busy

Do you have something against supermarket cakes? Only we bought three tiers from Tesco's for our wedding earlier this year, it's a really lovely fruit cake (that even people who say they don't like fruit cake loved) and even when you take into account the bits I had to buy to stack it all up, it didn't cost more than about £45! I made my own bouquets, so decorated the cake with some of the leftover fresh flowers, it was very quick, easy, and looked and tasted great.
What we did to begin with was buy one of the small cakes just to try before we actually bought for the wedding. Also, we bought an extra cake which we didn't stack, just to be sure there was enough.0 -

Not really but I cannot be arsed with the DIY bit
I am a perfectionist and that is what would hold me back! I am doing OH head in now, I will probably go down that route in the end but wanted to see what else was out there (if any thing)wanttogetwed wrote: »Look at M&S thats where we are getting ours. Do you have a Country Market (used to be WI Markets) in your area?. They have a website which will give you your nearest market.
Many Country Markets will have producers of celebration cakes, made and decorated to the purchases own wishes.
Can't remember what we charge at my local market, but nothing like your quote in OP0 -
