    How about this...

I'm pessimstic about the outcome of the Afghan war, I think our troops should pull out.

    Is that a bad statement?

I am also pessimistic about that, I am however NOT pessimistic all the time about everything
Chuck Norris can kill two stones with one birdThe only time Chuck Norris was wrong was when he thought he had made a mistakeChuck Norris puts the "laughter" in "manslaughter".I've started running again, after several injuries had forced me to stop

The threads got f**K all to do with house buying , if you just want to have the same old arguements about HPI and HPC then well done.

    Clever boy:rolleyes:

PS theres a clue in the thread title...

    :rotfl:

    good one!
  • If somebody's opinion or view differs from your own that doesn't mean it's wrong, why do you feel the need to bully them?

Some people are called pessimistic, when they feel they are realists due to experience or their local environment.

    You're just one big bully.

    :P

    Eh????

This is a genuine thread, I find the topic of why pessimists seem to gather on these boards interesting, and I've specifically refrained from directing any of these observations at individual posters, and pointed out it's not about anyones position on house prices.

So hard to see how it could be categorised as bullying?

And thats the thing.... There seems to be a core group of perma-pessimists, who actively seek out doom filled news, the more sensational the better, and wallow in it.

We're all doomed..... Except we're not of course, and never have been despite all the people over the years who have claimed so.

I think house prices have further to fall. I think the economy is still in trouble. I think there are dangers in the mini bubbles springing up everywhere as a result of government intervention to save world economies. I do not think an asteroid is going to fall on my head.

Hush Mr Brown, your allowed to think that but please don't post it.....

    Its just Not "Hamishly Correct";)
  • Ironic thread from someone who views double-digit HPI as a "positive thing" - no caveats, no qualification of the statement...

Just that it is good for "everyone".

When in fact, lots of people ARE doomed by that very thing. Doomed to painful mortgage repayments, often leading to hardship and repossession. Doomed to shoddy rental accomodation while struggling to raise a deposit, that HPI makes ever distant.

    But you are alright, jack.

Perhaps its not so much rose-tinted glasses, as a blindfold.

As an aside to this fascinating and in no way pointless thread, if you take a group of people suffering with depression and a group which are not and compare how likely they think bad things are to happen to them (unemployment, death of a loved one, chronic illness), depressed people are more likely to get the odds right.
