How can people be so pessimistic all the time?

But the Johnny Depp ogling is the best bit.
Maybe you're just not cut out to be a girlie....0 -

Just shows what a truly broad church we are here.
We even welcome people who don't recognise the vision of loveliness that is Johnny.
Look - we're on first name terms, now.0 -

edit...ah, meaning I type rubbish, not that you do. Which might be why you're proud and I'm embarrassed!
Thanks lir and everyone else. Yes, I recognise the drivel syndrome within myself. Lots more of it to come, I'm sure.
But even if we produce only the occasional little nugget ........0 -

Bleurgh - all yours, love!...much enquiry having been made concerning a gentleman, who had quitted a company where Johnson was, and no information being obtained; at last Johnson observed, that 'he did not care to speak ill of any man behind his back, but he believed the gentleman was an attorney'.0 -

Pessimists are a necesary component in Human groupings, indeed a Darwinian imperative to further the longevity of the gene pool. The pessimist acts as an early warning beacon, albeit one that could be likened to a car alarm that constantly goes off.
I read a great book on psychology that set out out clearly why certain brains take on the pessimist role.
It stated the empty young impressionable brain may be exposed to more 'negative' experiences even in child birth. That is not to assume the parents are at fault, as negative experiences may have been accidental or resulted from lack of expereince. For example being left too long without a feed, or being dressed to cold to sit in a windy pushchair (I see this quite often), or overdressed and then exposed to the opressive heat of clothes shops for hours on end - see that a lot too.
I'm fairly pessimistic and I think it largely stems from my experience of changing enviroments as an army child, shipped around the world. One moment I have some little freinds in nursey, then next they've all gone and I'm somewhere new - repeated several times.0 -
Posting bigging-up stuff, smugly, as though you know something the rest of us don't, is an equal waste too, IMHO.
What don't the rest of you know? That house prices are trending upwards?
Try reading this for starters:-

Sorry if you've lost money. That's just the way it goes I suppose?
Sell low buy high.

they've trended upwards over the last 10 months. they may continue to rise or they may not - different people have diff opinions about what is going to happen although tbf they tend to agree more about what has already happened imo
eg if you think prices have trended upwards for the last 10 months but will fall again at some point then buying low and selling high is a good idea, but to buy in feb 09 and sell in dec 09 isn't easy imo
caveat: I Have lost quite a bit of money recently so you should take my opinion with a pinch of saltPrefer girls to money0 -
But tbf while betting on West Ham might be a good way to lose a lot of money it at least proves a lack of pessimism imoPrefer girls to money0
