218bhp Vs. Egg (Loan PPI Claim)

After much deliberation I have decided to try and claim back the mis-sold PPI on my Egg loan.
The reason for not doing this at the same time as my other PPI claims is that Egg cancelled many of their customers credit card agreements in 2008, leaving them with a balance to pay off at a very high interest rate.
Reading some other forums, it seems that Egg are quite keen to sell on these debts to collection agencies. I was a little reluctant to stoke the fire but now I've realised that a PPI refund on the loan could clear the "credit card" I'm going for it!
I've sent off a SAR letter this morning and will keep this thread updated for the benefit of others.

Had a letter from Egg this week saying all the info I've requested would be sent before January 2nd.0

I reclaimed on my egg card and got it refunded no problem, I didn't have a balance on the card at the time though!
I only sent them the 1 letter and got it back from there!

Well the SAR paperwork arrived today from Egg and there seems to be very little evidence that would suggest what was said during the loan application phone call etc.
There is however, a printout of a screen that has a ticked box saying that I agree to PPI.
I dont remember if this was pre-ticked or if I had to tick it though.0 -
Right, I've just sent off my letter claiming back a significant amount of PPI plus 8%.
If my claim is upheld, the refund should work out to be about £3 more than the outstanding balance on my Egg Credit card. Fingers crossed.0 -
I've had £170 back in C/C PPI (inc the 8% interest) within 10 days from Egg - super fast - only thing is they've just credited my card account. Shouldn't they really just send a cheque? I'm awaiting a refund back from my loan account too but as I'm on a DMP I could do with the cash to spread across all my other debts.
Advice appreciated!0 -
They're not obliged to send you a cheque and crediting your card account is quite normal for what I've read on here.0

Wooohooo!!!!!!
Just as I was sitting down to write a letter to another lender, claiming back £53 of PPI the postman came with a letter from Egg
£2700 refund.
It says it will be credited to my nominated account but as yet it has not been refunded to my Egg credit card or the account from which they take direct debits.
Fingers crossed they stick to what they promise.0
