It would now appear that having agreed to release this "dodgy dossier" (sounds familiar, doesn't it ?) that a lot of it appears to have gone missing !

In fact, there have been rumours doing the rounds over the last few months that a lot of data that didn't support the man-made global warming story has also been "misplaced".

I don't care if there is global warming or not or if mankind is responsible for it. The solutions being encouraged included energy conservation and increasing renewables and that for me is the most important thing. People are generally stupid and waste energy like it is a limitless resource having no worries about oil and gas running out(which it will in the near future). Anything that can scare them into walking a couple of miles to the shops instead of driving or turning off lights when not in use is alright by me.

Some of the 'generally stupid' even use computers to post on internet forums - what a waste of energy!! What a waste of Resources.

    The Times today reports similar.

There could, however, be another reason why the unit rejected requests to see its data.
This weekend it emerged that the unit has thrown away much of the data. Tucked away on its website is this statement: “Data storage availability in the 1980s meant that we were not able to keep the multiple sources for some sites ... We, therefore, do not hold the original raw data but only the value-added (ie, quality controlled and homogenised) data.”
If true, it is extraordinary. It means that the data on which a large part of the world’s understanding of climate change is based can never be revisited or checked. Pielke said: “Can this be serious? It is now impossible to create a new temperature index from scratch. [The unit] is basically saying, ‘Trust us’.”

Yes but driving wastes more energy than computing.

So you agree about the stupidity? but are simply giving your opinion on the degree of stupidity I assume?

United Nations are now conducting an investigation.

Some while ago I was clearing a loft in an elderly relatives house. I found a really old newspaper with an advert describing how scientists had proved that this brand of cigarette 'cleared your lungs' and was beneficial to health.

If sufficient funds are given to a University for 'research', some will produce findings that the donor want to hear.

    Absolutely.

I sometimes get the impression there are some people, and I certainly don't mean to label all sceptics, but some who haven't grown out of their adolescent resentment of being "told what to do" and they percieve environmental messages as someone bossing them about.
