home improvement grant scheme

Hi
My local authority are running a home improvement scheme in my street which is not means tested but intended to raise the external area profile.
I have just been considering repointing a piece of wall and also a new front door, both of which the scheme covers.
The only downside is that there is a 5 year repayment period if you sell the house although each year the cost reduces by 20%
Do you think that the price they will be paying for the work will be massively above what I could get it for privately? Any other downsides?
Not planning to move for 3 years at least so thinking it is a good deal

The council will have probably put the work out to tender so i can't see that they would be over charging you.
Even if they did charge 'top dollar', if you did move in 3yrs you'd get a 60% discount off it.
Sounds like a good offer to me.Liverpool is one of the wonders of Britain,
What it may grow to in time, I know not what.

that was what i was hoping
im hoping that the pointing/rendering isnt necessary (as ive been doing some work on it myself which I am hoping has done the trick) but i do want a new door
i wonder how they decide whether i should have a new one - the main reason i want a new one is because mine is wooden and doesnt offer much security and i want a nice upvc one0
