My computer exploded on me yesterday:eek:
I need to replace it quite urgently. I would like to buy a laptop and can afford around £500. I use it for surfing the net (ok I admit this mostly means mse
), word processing and storing a few photos.
I would welcome any advice on spec, prices and current deals.

Hello Prudent
I'll move your thread over to the 'Techie Stuff' board, where the computer experts will help you.;)
Hi, Martin’s asked me to post this in these circumstances: I’ve asked Board Guides to move threads if they’ll receive a better response elsewhere(please see this rule) so this post/thread has been moved to another board, where it should get more replies. equivalent to the Dell 1300 that was on offer the other week, think it needs a wireless adapter if you are wireless at home (or rong them to check )Ex forum ambassador

If thats all you want a laptop for I'd just go for a cheap one. Find the best priced one and it will prolly be fine with your requirements.0

Check out Staples (in store rather than on the net) as they always seem to have some good low-end laptops at around the £500 mark. Bought my Fujitsu Siemens Amilo Pro v2040 from them about six months ago for £549, very happy and excellent service. He huihuinga taangata he pukenga whakaaro – A meeting of people; a wellspring of ideas (Maori proverb)0
