Hi im going to Jamaica and i wondered if anyone had any information on using mobile phones there. Im with Tesco which i think is O2 and wondered if you can ring home on them unlike Cuba you could only text, also any idea how much calls and texts cost.
Whilst im asking what type of plugs do they use are they the flat 2 pin ones.

From Tesco Website
Jamaica - Region 4
To make a call to UK fixed-lines or UK mobiles £1.49/min
Receive a call £1.49/min
Text the UK or any other country 40p/message
Networks Digicel
Tesco use O2 network in UK but this does not mean that if you can use an O2 phone in country X, you can use your Tesco phone there. You need to check available country list from their website.
Not sure about plugs (and I've been there twice!) but think they are the US flat pin type :rolleyes:0 -
Hi Steph, The plugs in jamaica are 2 pin flat plugs. Their voltage is only 110 ours is 220 so things like hair straighteners don't always work, my GHD's didn't. Where in jamaica are you going?0

Hi hoofehearted, thanks for that link to tesco website, i've been and read it, very interesting i just need to check out if my phone is a triband one, that could take some doing lol.
Minimad thanks also, i thought they would be the flat 2 pin ones but wasnt sure. We're flying into Kingston and staying in Negril, then montego bay then dunns river and flying home from montego bay, im very excited but a little scared too. Got to get to Gatwick first never been before and im a country bumpkin but i think national express is the best option as it drops me right at the terminal and i havent got to cross london in the middle of the night by myself and the times fall just right.0 -
