Will credit report affect credit card application?

Hi, I turned 18 in June this year and in the last 5-6 months I've applied for quite a few things that require credit checks and direct debits such as a credit card, vodafone contract and 3 student accounts (1 was the bank's mistake which they've yet to fix). However, after a number of problems with the RBS, I decided to switch my student account over to HBOS which was the right move. I am about to close my RBS credit card aswell, and close one RBS student account (the RBS mistake) and switch the other to a normal current account. Because of all of this activity on my credit report, I am wondering if this will affect my application for a HBOS student credit card when I close the RBS credit card? I researched credit reports and found I can look at my own for free using experian. But they've asked me to supply them with 3 personal documents to prove my ID, can I trust them and is it worth the hassle? The only reason I ask is because I'm worried I won't get the HBOS credit card. I think I may have also ruined future applications because of all the activity on my credit report in a short space of time. Any opinions or advice would be greatly appreciated. Thanks, dex

Dont think you have reuined anything, but I would just stick with the RBS credit card for a few months to let the searches drop off. At the very least apply for the HBOS one before closing down your RBS one in case you are turmned down (a closure takes a few months to filter down to you credit report anyway).0
