Car Rental open on the 25th ?

Hi All

I need to rent a car from Leeds to London Heathrow, unfortunately, on the 25th (pickup on the 25th, drop off on the following day at the airport). Tried to search on some of the largest names in the industry but they shut on these two dates. I wish i could change my flight date, but unfortunately this will not be possible.

Coach will cost me almost £100 (2 persons) set off from Leeds at 1.45 and travelling for almost 6 hours..!!!. Train is just too expensive i cant be bothered to search.

Any idea at all? Thank you.

Give them a call, I used to hire cars for football trips and nearly always needed to pick the car up before the rental place opened. Hertz would leave the key with the night porter at the hotel they operated from. Avis would let me pick the car up, or deliver it, the night before. Dropping it off is not such a problem, there will be a drop off point at Heathrow, just leave the car and keys there.

Hang on, on your talking about November or December? I assume it's December because you talk of them being shut, and naturally so. But will the trains and most buses not also be cancelled anyway?

Surely the hire costs and fuel wont be much cheaper than the coach if at all?

Hire it on Christmas Eve....most if not all of the larger rental companies will be open on Boxing Day at LHR.
I know because we were roped in to delivering hundreds of cars to various LHR rental sites on Christmas morning a few years ago.
try National, Hertz, Avis, Sixt.

As others have said, hire it on the 24th December.

Pay a little extra (£10ish) for home delivery and your problem will be solved. I always to one way car rental to/from Heathrow. Most of the time my rental starts at 5:00am on a Saturday or Sunday morning. The rental company usually delivers the car to my home address on Friday even though the rental doesn't start until Sunday.

b.t.w. one way rentals like this can sometimes be fun. I often get a car several grades above the one I rent because the local branch sees it as an opportunity to get an older car coming to the end of its rental period back to Heathrow.
