MBNA - Help

in Credit cards
Hi All,
Just found out that my wife's mbna card has the highest rate of interest applied to it. She rang them and asked for the rate to be reduced and to cancel the insurance. They said they will cancel the insurance but there is nothing they can do about the rate - yeh right!
Does anyone have any idea how she can get the rate down? I'm currently applying for a 0% card to put this balance on. Another point - have applied for a Halifax card online about 2 weeks ago and have heard absolutely nothing. Is this typical? Not even had an email acknowledgement!
Any advice would be grately appreciated.
Thanks.

Hello,
Can't comment on MBNA but their reputation isn't too good.
Halifax is another one with quite an arrogant denies all responsibility attitude too.
The Nationwide could be worth a look though, they're certainly coming out as one of the better and more organised banks overall.

Capital 1 are currently offering 0% on BT until October 07 on their platinum card (this seems to be a long term offer that they are rolling over each month, it was September 07 when I applied) you can apply online and get an instant decision, but there is a 2% transfer fee.
Re the Halifax 1 card, the transfer fee is capped at £50 if you apply in a branch rather than online, when it's a flat rate of 2%. I've recently obtained both these cards and they were extremely slow to process, the whole shebang took at least 3 weeks.Official DFW Nerd No 096 - Proud to have dealt with my debt!0 -
My rate was on 24.9% just over a year ago. I phoned them and wrote to them with little joy (they offered to put my rate down to 22.9%, wow!
)
Then I asked one of my other cards to increase the credit limit so I could pay off the MBNA card with it.
I was lucky that they did that so I had a 0% balance on my MBNA card. MBNA phoned me up about a week later offering me 2.9% for 6 months with a £50 fee.0 -
Yes I've just transferred to another card and Mbna phoned me yesterday to offer me 7 months 0%! Er?, no thanks.Official DFW Nerd No 096 - Proud to have dealt with my debt!0

Thanks for your views.
Gonna get my better half to keep plugging away at mbna whilst I shop around to see if another provider wants my "business"
Off to look at capital 1 and nationwide now.
