You will still need the large orange tracking sticker, so will need to go through po systems. Guess it saves time for printing out postage.

you just get a stock in advance
theres no cost for the stickers

So... if you wanted to, you could pick up some RD stickers (with the tracking number on), buy some RD stamps, stick them both on an envelope and post it... and a few days later you'll be able to tap the tracking number into RM's site and see that it was / wasn't signed for?

Obviously it's not a perfect system, you wouldn't get a PoP so if it wasn't signed for you're screwed for the compensation, but it seems a good idea if you feel you'll get a signature / can't be ar5ed to go out but feel slightly iffy about a buyer.

Maybe it wouldn't show on the system if there is no initial scan at the accepting PO?

Can anyone remind me what the latest compensation is for a recorded mail item being lost please?

It's a letter, so no intrinsic value.
I thought the minimum compensation for retail customers used to be 12 first class stamps.
Has this now been reduced to just 6?

Thanks custardy, that's the maximum, but what is the minimum?

Edit: Looks like the cheapskates have indeed reduced it to just 6 x first class stamps :(

I am surprised RM hasnt put forward the idea of no insurance cover on standard mail unless an insurance premium is paid
