A Thank You & Encouragement

Well, today's the day. The day I've been working so hard for the last 11 months.

I paid off my last debt in full.

However, I don't want this to be about me. I've got my diary for that. :p

If you're still debt-busting
Keep fighting! I started this journey somewhat hopelessly (or so it felt), facing £20k in unsecured debt. I was getting divorced (and still am, although that's moving forward now as well), was moving out of the house I had rented and loved for 4 years, and generally just felt like it was all pointless. At 25 years old I was seriously wondering what life was supposed to be like, as I was certain I wasn't living the plan.

A month afterwards I found MSE. All the lovely people posting here - particularly in DFW - offered kind words, encouragement, a slap where necessary, and kept me going. A few months later I found myself, by virtue of my natural tendency to "give back", offering advice to newcomers. The perpetual bug that is MSE well and truly bit.

If you're debt-free day is tomorrow, or the next day or the next, or if you're in for the long-haul, keep going. Keep fighting. Hold your head high and be proud. You are in a unique club, and dealing with your debts.

44% of the country are still burying their heads in the sand hoping it'll all go away. :(

To those who helped
Thank you.

One thing is for sure - even though I'm now (I guess) an honourary DFW (or do I just get to have "got the t-shirt"?), I'll be sticking around. If one thing has become clear over the last 11 months, there will always be people with lightbulbs going off and finding the MSE religion. They will need the help that you so kindly offered me, and I'd like to give what I have learned back, along with your good selves.

I owe each and every one of you a pint or a drink of your choice.
