It will soon be that time of year again so anybody wanting to save their used Christmas card stamps might consider the RSPB.

For loose stamps, the RSPB works with a stamp dealer who operates with various charities, receiving stamps, selling them on and paying charities a proportion of the proceeds. They raise up to £3.50 per kg for UK stamps and £12.50 per kg for foreign stamps. For loose stamps, they ask that they are sent directly the dealer, : RSPB Stamps, PO Box 6198, Leighton Buzzard, Bedfordshire LU7 9XT……and preferably in 2 kilo quantities or above to reduce your postage costs. Just tear off the corner with the stamp, ideally with no more than ¼ of an inch border.
Stamp albums, first day covers, and rare stamps should be sent to Save the Albatross Stamp Appeal (Special Stamps and Albums), RSPB, The Lodge, Sandy, Beds, SG19 2DL.

The problem is with stamps now is that it is probably cheaper to find somewhere local for them and donate the money across. If RSPB only get £3.50 a kg and it costs the sender £2.70 to send just under a kilo (to take into account packing weight) It seems hardly worth it.

2KG might be better, but only if you can get that much as you could use parcel post at £4.41. I'm hoping the charity shops will be taking them again in January as that seems like a way to get round postal issues.
